How To Wear... Jean Shorts

Summer is approaching us now and that means that it is time to put away the skinny jeans and trousers. The time has come for us all to pull out our shorts. Bermudas, short-shorts, and high-waisted are all welcomed. But just because shorts are the things to wear, don't start dressing yourself down to match the usual casual appeal of a jean short. Make shorts an occasion and go crazy with accessories. Add scarves, tights, suspenders, belts, and jewelry. These ladies know exactly how to make this season for shorts work in their favor.

My One Day Trip To The City

On Saturday I ventured to a little town I like to call Los Angeles, or L.A. I dropped by there with a group to see a play called Wicked. Before we went to see the show we spent some time in the Kodak Theater area looking around, going to H&M, and spotting lots of cute outfits. Now I was only able to sneak a few pictures of these super stylish girls because I was trying to do it in the most discreet way. Here are some highlights of my trip along with some really dashing ladies.

Photobucket
Well this is the whole reason I was there so of course it was memorable and a highlight.

Photobucket
I would go to this in a heartbeat or two, but unfortunately I will not be in the country at that time.

This girl was one of the cutest of the day. I just fell in love with her gorgeous little plaid dress and yellow purse.

Photobucket
I am aware that this is not a good picture at all, but this girl was on the move and this is as good as it was going to get. I just adore the lovely pattern on her skirt.

The best person I saw all day! I just wanted to steal this outfit right from her back. And what's not to love about those shoes, really.

Honestly, I would have rather just gone around all day photographing style and the stylish, shopping at H&M, or just eating churros than having gone and seen Wicked, it just didn't do it for me.

That Band Is The Business... Be Your Own Pet

After a busy Saturday I am so glad to have a day of rest. So far all I have done is eat breakfast and downloaded music. As I downloaded some of Be Your Own Pet's new album, I decided to visit their site and I found something I liked. I looked through their pictures of the band and I found their style to be rock-sensational.

I have yet to hear a slow song from them so it only makes sense that their wardrobe should be edgy and out-there. Their music uses harsh beats combined with equally harsh words. It is not hard to jump into any of their songs and rock-out a little bit, (even for this little indie girl).

List Of... A Gossip Girl's Closet

With it's first season almost over, Gossip Girl seems unstoppable. It offers an unlimited supply of scandal, gossip, and best of all FASHION! Right from the pilot it was clear that the fashions were out of this world. Each character has adopted their own style that complements their role in the upper class society as well as their personality. While their style tends to be a bit more classy and trendy than us thrift store girls, they still keep a vintage flare to each outfit.

So for all of you lovely girls out there who watch gossip girl and just dream that you could explore Blair's closet, I have compiled a list of what I think makes up the majority of a Gossip Girl's closet.

She Is The Business... Joanna Newsom

"Even mollusks have weddings, though solemn and leaden,
But you dirge for the dead, and take no jam on your bread,
Just a supper of salt and a waltz through your empty bed"

These words could only come from the mouth of one Joanna Newsom. This girl has spoken some of the most beautiful words grouped together to create the most meaningful song I have ever heard. When listening to her songs it feels like you are listening to the most awe-inspiring story that has ever been uttered. Wether the song is 4 minutes or 16 minutes, you just get swept up in the fanciful details and soon it seems that you are living out the mystical and idiosyncratic scenario.

This indie artist is unlike any writer, singer or woman that has come before her. Her clothing choices mirrors her songs. They are whimsical and unparalleled. Her outfits are not loud or obnoxious, instead they are dauntless yet soft and darling. She is true to herself, wearing clothing that complements her mystical and almost fairy-like breathtaking features.

And the meteor's just what we see,
And the meteoroid is a stone that's devoid of the fire that propelled it to thee..."

"Scrape your knee; it is only skin,
makes the sound of violins,
when you cut my hair, and leave the birds the trimmings,
I am the happiest woman among all women..."

Something else is in front, oh, you're behind..."

and cleft me right down through my center,

Kick 'em in the face, taste the body
Shallow work is the work that I do..."
