Consumed By Meaningless Boards... Sorry

Ok, I feel a little like I am neglecting this little blog of mine. I know I have not posted in a little while, and I have tons more Ireland photos to post and I just need to get with. It is not that I have not had time to post or something like that, but one thing has been just eating up my time lately. It is just looming over me waiting till I get on the computer to suck me in. TDK aka The Dark Knight aka the newest Batman film. I did not expect this type of reaction from myself. I had been anticipating this movie scince the beggining of January and I knew that I would love it. Ok, so I went to the midnight showing exactly two weeks ago and when I walked out of the theater, I was a bit underwelmed. After an exahsting week I was so tired throughout the whole movie, and the plot is quite complex so, ofcourse, my little mind got confused. I did not tell anyone that I was less than impressed instead I convinced myself that it needed to sink in and I decided that I would have to see it again.

So the one week later I ventured back into a packed theater, with my sister and some who had not seen it yet, and let the movie just soak in. Well whatever I missed or disliked the first time, I caught the second time. I was in awe every moment of the film. From the beautiful and intense music, to every time Heath Ledger was on the screen, I could not take my eyes off what was playing out before me. Well I left that theater with a new love and understanding for the movie.

The following Monday I went to see it all by myself, and then on Tuesday I saw with my sister and my mom. This is the first movie my mom has seen in theaters for close to three years. I have seen it four times, and I have every intention of seeing one more time. But because my thoughts have become so flooded with The Dark Knight, every time I sit down at my computer, instead of going to blogspot, like I should, I go directly for The Dark Knight IMDB message boards. I spend so much time reading about what people loved about the movie and what they hate. I swear people defend the movie like it is their only child. It amazes me how deep this movie goes. And of course there are the endless debates about if it will over take Titanic at the domestic box office and who was a better joker, Heath or Jack (I think the last time I checked it was Heath- 45 and Jack-5).

I have also started to check the Box Office Mojo every day. This is a first for me, something about this movie has capture everyone's attention in either a positive or a negative way. I predict seven Oscar noms and I hope for sure a win for Heath, you just don't beet that performance. I encourage anyone who has not seen it, to go, and anyone who has to go again and just take in every moment.

I promise to get back to some normal posting soon, like hopefully today, I just need ten more minutes at the boards and then I will just go for it!

That Band Is The Business... Bat For Lashes

Eerie and quite out of this world describes the workings of Bat for Lashes music. Their songs seem to come from a place that most of us don't live in, which perhaps is the reason why it is so much fun to explore their music. I won't even try to explain what their music videos are saying, because I have not a clue. Their music may not be for everyone but it defiantly strikes my fancy.

Natasha Khan is the brains behind the intriguing music. Her style completely reflects the peculiar beats and lyrics she throws out into the music world. With her never ending supply of head-dressings the word for her style seems to be creativity.

Show Me Your Remixing Skills... kasia+vintage

Fun, adorable, and inventive. These words describe the ever lovable kasia+vintage. She wears clothes in ways like no one else. Her fabulous shoes and flirty hair-do allow her to go crazy with fashion. With the utmost ease she can make a pair of simple shorts look crazy good. She has a crazy knack for making me want to wear everything she owns. With her hair cut and adorable poses, I would call her the cutest fairy. With so much to offer, I am finding myself entranced by kasia+vintage's unmistakeable flavor for style:

Food... From Over The Sea

Before I went over seas, many people told me that the food in Ireland was nothing to shout about. They also said that it was going to be hard to find good food. Wrong Wrong Wrong! I loved the food, granted, I did miss the mexican cuisine over here in California, but the Irish food struck my taste buds in just the right way.

The Delectable Dinners:
Often times I found myself in a pub for dinner eating fish and chips or vegetable soup, which I loved! But sometimes I eat something a little nicer courtesy of Go-Ahead.

Oh Pastries!
In every Irish market I went to they had a wall of the most delicious breads and doughnuts I had ever seen.

The Dark Knight... 4 Days

I am not into comic books. I am not crazy for super heroes. I never liked Batman very much. All that being said, for the last five months all I have focused on was the day The Dark Night came out. The Dark Night is the newest Batman movie and the only Batman movie ever made that does not have the word Batman in the title. Why am I super excited about this one movie? The Joker! Heath Ledger's bone-chilling take on the creepy villain seems to have everyone talking. Now I will say that I really did want to see this movie before Heath died, they day I saw it I probably watched the trailer like 30 times, I even put it on my Ipod! So I did the honorable thing and bought tickets to the midnight showing on Thursday night for me and my sister who seems to be matching my level of excitement. I will encourage everyone to go see this movie that I think and hope will be the number one film of the summer!

Falling In Love With London

My first real installment of sharing my wonderful trip to Ireland and London with you starts now! Well I left the horrible heat of the valley on Wednesday June 25th and arrived in London on Friday June 27th. I was exhausted when I came off the plane and stood in the customs line for an hour and a half, but I did manage to read a rocking article on Jens Lekman in my Under The Radar magazine. Once I was through the customs line and once I had my bags, outside to the real London I went. It was like a rush of wind hitting my face, that's how fast I fell in love with the beautiful and unique city. I boarded my coach (bus) and sat almost in the back. As I sat there, my eyes that had just minutes ago been so tired were wakened by the sheer elegance of this new place. That night I went to my first ever pub, but not before visiting Hide Park and taking a picture of Princess Di's home.

The next day was filled with lots of sightseeing around London and a trip to the breathtaking grounds of Windsor Castle. The outside of the Castle was beautiful, but the inside was much to stuffy for my taste, the queen can keep it! I think I ate like three croissants that day, they were my drug over there. And my day was finished out with an exciting phone call in one of the famous red telephone booths!
