Day One... Success

Chalk day was nothing short of almost perfect.  Our chalk making skills are quite impressive, I think.  So here is the silly little recipe I used for the chalk:

Chalk Talk

Sidewalk Chalk

2 cups water

2 cups plaster of paris

2 T tempera paint

toilet paper tubes (tape over one end)

Combine all ingredients. Don't use your hands, plaster of paris will dry them out. Let stand for 5 minutes. Put toilet paper tubes on a piece of cardboard or a cookie sheet. Pour mixture into holders. Let stand until almost firm. Peel off holders. Leave chalk to dry thoroughly (1-1/12 hours). Discard any remaining mixture in trash, not down the drain.

This worked really well.  No major problems.

After an entire day of drying, our chalk was ready for use.  So we grabbed our bikes and chalked up this little town!

What My Late Night Life Is Made Of

So my non-movie week has begun.  I haven't missed them yet... but it's only been like 12 hours. Last night, before this week began, I finished watching Rushmore, and I can now safely say it is my favorite Wes Anderson flick.

Six Days Of Stuff

Exactly one week until my final year of high school begins.  I really want to make the most out of this final week.  So I am having my own 500 Days of Summer, except I'm having 6 days of summer.  These are days to be filled with creativity and amusement.  But mostly, it is keeping me from being the lazy movie-consumer that I usually am in my free time.

So here's how it goes, one major project/activity a day.  And I am going to do my best to have a movie-free week. *GASP* I don't know if this is possible for me, but tonight I am going to finish watching Rushmore (which is making fall in love with Wes Anderson all over again and fall in love with Jason Schwartzman for the fist time) and after that film it looks like 6 movie-free days for me.  Here is the activities I plan to carry out:
1) Make My Own Chalk
2) Make Chalkboard Paint (and if it does not turn out, buy some)
3) Make Feather Headbands
4) Make A 5-Minute Movie...
...About A Stuffed Alligator
5) Make A Mini-Quilt From Old Dress Fabrics
6) Go To and Conquer Awesome Yard Sales
So tomorrow I begin with making my own chalk, and after I do that, I'm gonna chalk up the town!

That Nut Is The Business... Coconut

My parents just returned from a little trip to the island of Maui.  Along with beautiful picture and traces of sun tans, they also brought back some delicious fruit.  Some pineapples and per my request, one brown coconut.
The coconut, while not a nut, is one of my favorite and in my own opinion, most unique fruits.  I mean, what is it?? I don't care, it's just real good.

Later... a summertime walk

That Time Of Year

It's been just short of a year since my last post.  I don't know what to say about this absence other than that it has now ended.  I stopped blogging cause I started to feel less inspired and thought of it more as a chore than as a joy.  But Here I am ready to start my senior year of high school and I think it is a good year for me to document.
This past summer of mine was filled with work and some movie viewing, but nothing too spectacular.  I'm ready for this year and whatever comes with it!

Ok Ok... Leaving Again

Trust me, I know I have not posted any posts in like two weeks.  I can barely find time to floss, so my blogging has taken an intermission.  Also I won't be posting anything all Thanksgiving week, cause I am going to visit my sis in Spain!  Ahhh, I leave tomorrow, and I am still not packed, and my Spanish is nonexistent.  On the positive I did purchase some much desired black boots and a much desired black coat! BLACK!

And on the other plus side, in these last two crazy weeks I was able to finally watch The Darjeeling Limited.  Wes Anderson... I'm telling you.  This was by far my favorite of any of his films, I found myself laughing uncontrollably.  And the soundtrack ain't to bad either.
